2020 Missouri Annual Conference

Location of conference gathering: Primarily online, with production at Community UMC in Columbia. 

Dates of conference gathering: Pre-conference briefing (reports) May 28, clergy session June 5, business session August 22.  

Did the coronavirus change the dates or how the conference met: Yes.

Officiating bishop: Bishop Robert Farr. 

Number of churches that closed due to financial issues related to the coronavirus: 0.

Any special annual conference set: No.

Endorsement of episcopal candidate: No.

Names of delegates for 2021 General Conference, as well as whether they are lay or clergy: Same as 2020, no election. 

Ordination: Seven people were ordained, with the average age of 37. One 68-year-old was received into associate membership. Six people were commissioned, with an average age of 43. 

Number of clergy retired: 43.

• Membership stands at 144,485, down from 149,081 from the previous year. 

• Worship attendance stands at 65,466, down from 69167. 

• Church school attendance stands at 21,863, down from 22,440. 

• Professions or reaffirmations of faith for 2019 were 1,108, down from 1,396 in 2018.

• Adults and young adults in small groups for 2019 was 3,078, down from 3,102 in 2018.

• Worshippers engaged in mission for 2019 was 47,736, down from 48,513 in 2018.
