Churchgoers plan 'Virtual Earth Day'
COLUMBIA, S.C. — The threat of COVID-19 means United Methodists and other people of faith in South Carolina are now planning a virtual gathering to celebrate this year's Earth Day on April 22. It is the 50th anniversary of the environmental event. Churchgoers had previously planned an in-person gathering at the South Carolina State House. Jessica Brodie has the story.

Church leaders: Iran sanctions hinder COVID-19 care
WASHINGTON — Ecumenical church leaders are urging the U.S. to lift crippling sanctions against Iran that are greatly impeding response in that nation to COVID-19. As of April 13, Iran had more than 73,000 confirmed cases and nearly 4,600 documented deaths due to COVID-19, making it one of the most affected countries in the world.
