Faith leaders join call for peace treaty to end Korean War
WASHINGTON (UM News) — This year marks the 70th anniversary of the Armistice Agreement of the Korean War, but since a peace treaty was never negotiated, the war has technically never ended. United Methodist leaders joined a broad coalition of peace advocates and various faith traditions for the three-day National Mobilization to End the Korean War. The Rev. Thomas E. Kim reports.

DALLAS (UM News) — Sally Vonner’s installation as top executive of United Women in Faith took place in her native Texas, before a crowd that included many family members and longtime friends. STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. — Once a month, the parking lot of Trinity United Methodist Church of Stockbridge is transformed into a vibrant and welcoming space for the 4th Sunday Outside BBQ Fresh Expression. WAPATO, Wash. — In July, 61 youth and youth workers from across the Greater Northwest Area met in southern Washington for a week of service and learning with neighbors from the Yakama Nation. Lilly accepting grant proposals
INDIANAPOLIS — Up to $78 million in grant money is available to museums, historical sites and cultural organizations through the Lilly Endowment’s Religion and Cultural Institutions Initiative. Proposals are wanted on developing exhibitions, educational programs or other activities that will provide fair, accurate and balanced portrayals of the role religion plays in the United States and around the world. Eligible organizations can participate by submitting concept papers by noon U.S. Pacific time Oct. 30.
