(UM News) — Giving to denomination-wide ministries was better than the worst of the pandemic's projections, according to preliminary figures from the General Council on Finance and Administration. Congregations unite to help neighbors 

HILLSVILLE, Va. — Located just five miles apart, Woodlawn and Shiloh United Methodist churches are combining forces to reach out to medical personnel and elderly neighbors during the COVID-19 pandemic. The two small churches also are developing a new grief ministry for people who have recently lost loved ones. Annette Spence has the story.

MEDFORD, Ore. — Through Zoom chats, Merry Harris reconnected with her childhood church, River Falls United Methodist Church in Wisconsin. When wildfires left many of Harris’ southern Oregon neighbors in deep need, the Wisconsin congregation stepped up to help. Sally Blanchard has the story.

Leadership change at Duke Divinity

DURHAM, N.C. — The Rev. L. Gregory Jones will step down as dean of United Methodist Duke Divinity School at the end of the academic year. Jones has been named president of Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. The Rev. Edgardo Colón-Emeric will begin a two-year term as Duke Divinity dean on July 1.
