Church court says GC2020 delay resets deadlines

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (UM News) — The United Methodist Church’s top court addressed the question of whether General Conference’s postponement affects deadlines for proposed legislation. The ruling comes as General Conference organizers consider whether the international assembly can go forward as scheduled this year. Heather Hahn reports.

Indiana Conference
Longtime church communicator dies at 87

SARASOTA, Fla. — The Rev. Ralph Baker, a retired United Methodist Communications staff member and elder in the Indiana Conference, died Jan. 27 at age 87. Baker worked in the communications office of the former Methodist Board of Education in Nashville, Tennessee, before going to California, where he was communications director for the Southern California area. He retired after serving several years in Nashville as writer and editor with United Methodist Communications, including United Methodist News Service.
