Experiencing Holy Week through art

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Artists at West Market Street United Methodist Church were asked to depict the Stations of the Cross through various mediums. As they interpreted the Scriptures of Holy Week, these United Methodists found themselves experiencing Christ’s crucifixion ― and their own faith ― in new ways. Turning wedding gowns into Angel Gowns

GRANDVIEW, Mo. — Diane Wright of Grandview United Methodist Church takes donated used wedding gowns and turns them into Angel Gowns for the burial of stillborn infants. She’s repurposed 626 wedding gowns into nearly 6,000 Angel Gowns over the past 10 years, working with hospitals in her area. Fred Koenig reports on Wright’s ministry of comfort to grieving parents.

Church turns house into home for families

MARIETTA, Ga. — East Cobb United Methodist Church and Family Promise of Cobb County dedicated a house on the church’s campus to serve as temporary housing for families transitioning out of homelessness. “Our church is committed to hosting families in the rotational shelter program throughout the year,” said the Rev. Kristin Lee, the church’s senior pastor. North Georgia Conference staff have the story.

Foundation for Evangelism
Sibling pastors build international churches

LAKE JUNALUSKA, N.C. — Two United Methodist pastors in different U.S. states — siblings who grew up in Congo — have a connection to the Foundation for Evangelism. The Rev. J. Kabamba Kiboko leads Forest Chapel United Methodist Church in Forest Park, Ohio, and the Rev. Kiboko Kiboko leads Storm Lake United Methodist Church in Storm Lake, Iowa. Both churches are reaching local immigrant populations, with foundation support. The foundation has the story.

Free screening of prison movie

NEW YORK — A short documentary about mass incarceration will be screened at 6 p.m. U.S. Central time on March 5. “Never Give Up: Cynthia and Michelle’s Faithful Fight Against Mass Incarceration,” created by Ania Freer, is a documentary portrait that tells the story of United Women in Faith leader Cynthia Morrison Holland and her daughter, Michelle Morrison. The film will be followed by a Zoom conversation between Freer and the Morrisons, moderated by Emily Jones.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — United Methodist Communications, The United Methodist Church’s communications agency, is looking for input from clergy and lay leaders to help prioritize its activities for the future. The agency’s research team has developed a questionnaire to collect information that will help inform the agency’s work across all teams as it prepares to update its strategic plan.
