Session called on Alaska conference status
DES MOINES, Wash. — Greater Northwest Area Bishop Elaine Stanovsky has called a special session to vote on petitioning the 2020 General Conference to discontinue Alaska’s missionary conference status. The special session, which will be held Feb. 22, also would petition the 2020 Western Jurisdictional Conference to adjust conference boundaries to provide affiliation and oversight for the ministries of the Alaska conference.

Guatemalan ministry gets help from Floridians

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Through the sale of coffee, T-shirts and soups, Trinity United Methodist Church has joined with a Guatemalan ministry to help people in need. Recently, the partnership resulted in a new, much healthier house for 4-year-old Gustavo and his family. Sarah Hundley has the story.

Michigan Conference
Michigan church welcomes 14 babies 

ALLENDALE, Mich. — While millennials often identify as “none” when asked about their religious affiliation, young families make up 60% of Valley United Methodist Church. The congregation welcomed 14 babies in 2019 with seven more on the way. Kay DeMoss reports.

General Council on Finance and Administration
Agency examines financial implications of plans

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The General Council on Finance and Administration has the responsibility of proposing a four-year budget to fund ministries of The United Methodist Church. Preparing the budget includes analyzing all General Conference legislation that has financial implications for the church. The agency plans to provide information after all legislation, including that for the newly proposed protocol, is available for review.
