Top court agenda: Use of 'incompatible' language

NEW YORK (UMNS) — The 12-item fall docket for the United Methodist Judicial Council will include two petitions arguing that the issue of homosexuality does not fall under the denomination’s doctrinal standards. The council meets Oct. 24-27 in Los Angeles. Linda Bloom reports.

Church’s 'Restoration House' meets needs

BRYSON CITY, N.C. — Bryson City United Methodist Church’s Restoration House serves as a clearinghouse for information about social services. It also provides office space for nonprofits and hands out vegetables from a community garden. The Western North Carolina Conference reports.

Mission u supports covenant relationships

ELLENSBURG, Wash. — Mission u aimed this year to help United Methodists in the Pacific Northwest Conference nurture covenant relationships with each other. The conference’s Jesse N. Love reports on the gathering, co-sponsored by United Methodist Women and the Conference Board of Global Ministries. Worship director sought for General Conference

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Commission on the General Conference is seeking a worship and music director responsible for the overall worship and music program management of The United Methodist Church’s 2020 General Conference. The denomination’s top legislative body meets May 5-15, 2020, in Minneapolis.
