UMW sets up third dialogue for peace

NEW YORK — United Methodist Women has organized a third round of the Women’s Peace Dialogue to be held in late June at the Austrian Study Center for Peace and Conflict Resolution. The event will bring together 25 women leaders from 15 Eastern European and Central Asian countries, reports Tatiana Dwyer.

Drew exhibit features former U.S. ambassador 

MADISON, N.J. — Richard Walker, the U.S. ambassador to South Korea from 1981-86, served during a turbulent period that included the Soviet shoot-down of a Korean airliner, the murder of South Korean cabinet ministers, student uprisings and assassination threats to the ambassador. An exhibit on the Drew University alumnus runs through Aug. 11 in both the school’s library and the United Methodist Archives and History Center, Drew Today reports.

Oklahoma City University president to retire

OKLAHOMA CITY — Robert Henry, president of United Methodist-related Oklahoma City University, will retire, effective June 30, 2018.

New Texas Conference communicator appointed

HOUSTON — Shannon Martin has been appointed communication director for the Texas Conference, replacing Paula Arnold, who retired June 15. Martin was communications director for the conference from 1995-2000.
