Black caucus draws closer to African partners
PITTSBURGH (UM News) — During its 56th General Meeting, Black Methodists for Church Renewal built on its efforts to become a more global organization. Gathering in person for the first time since 2020, The United Methodist Church’s Black membership caucus emphasized its relationship with Africa University and then sent representatives to the first gathering of the new United Methodist Africa Forum in South Africa. Missouri Conference
Conference funds mobile clinics in Mozambique
COLUMBIA, Mo. — In the past three years, Missouri United Methodists have given more than $70,000 to support mobile health care clinics in Mozambique. The clinics extend health care to rural areas, where the need is great. The effort is part of the conference’s Mozambique Initiative. The Rev. Lucas Endicott has the story.

Finding ‘Unity in Christ’ amid disaffiliation pain
CHERRY HILL, N.J. — A Korean-speaking congregation in New Jersey faced heartbreak after its church voted to disaffiliate from The United Methodist Church. But out of the ashes came something beautiful: Unity in Christ Church. James Lee reports on how the remnant community is striving to maintain its identity as United Methodists while forging connections beyond generational and cultural barriers.

Rio Texas Conference
Church’s meal ministry is a hit
POTEET, Texas — Poteet First United Methodist Church’s food ministry, which carries the tagline “neighbors feeding neighbors,” began in March and distributed 200 meals in an hour. Last month, nearly 500 meals were given out. The program’s partners include local restaurants. Wendy Hilburn, the local Methodist Healthcare Ministries Wesley Nurse, also has had a big role. “God has blessed this effort in surprising ways from the beginning,” said the Rev. David Collett, pastor.

General Council on Finance and Administration
Finance agency releases quarterly report
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The General Council on Finance and Administration has released the financial updates on general church apportionment collections through the first quarter of 2023. Apportionments are shares of church giving that support ministries beyond the local church. In total, collections for denomination-wide ministries are up compared with the same time last year.
