McClain’s ashes nourish tree at seminary 

WASHINGTON (UM News) — For more than 32 years, the Rev. William Bobby McClain gave his heart and soul to the students at Wesley Theological Seminary. Now, Wesley is the final resting place for McClain after a solemn service of the interment of his ashes. Erik Alsgaard has the story.

Greater New Jersey Conference 
Conference undertakes anti-racism training 

NEPTUNE, N.J. — The consulting firm Fearless Dialogues will lead anti-racism training in the Greater New Jersey Conference. The first session is Nov. 13. Heather Mistretta talked to three conference members who are hopeful about the effort. “We’re on the right track. We need to get the training and get the message out to our churches,” said Ingres Simpson, lay leader at First United Methodist Church in Glassboro, N.J.

Pastor honored for ministry with homeless

DENVER — The Rev. Nathan Adams faced lawsuits and angry letters when his congregation, Park Hill United Methodist Church, agreed for its parking lot to serve as a safe space for the unhoused. Now, the Greater Park Hill Community, a neighborhood organization, has honored the pastor for remaining committed to the ministry amid the storm. Cara DeGette has the story.

ATLANTA — United Methodist Global Ministries and the United Methodist Committee on Relief’s year-end giving campaign — Give Love, Joy, Hope, Peace — launched Nov. 1.
