TIJUANA, Mexico (UMNS) — Since June 2012, the Rev. John Fanestil has served the sacrament weekly at The Border Church/La Iglesia Fronteriza. Guillermo Navarrete, a lay leader with the Methodist Church of Mexico, took over the ministry on the Mexico side about five years ago. CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (UMNS) — Maria Chavalan Sut, an indigenous woman from Guatemala, is taking sanctuary at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church to avoid deportation. Immigration and Customs Enforcement ordered her removal from the country on Sept. 30. Richard Lord reports.

KABALA, Sierra Leone (UMNS) — Bishop John Yambasu, who leads The United Methodist Church in Sierra Leone, will continue to head the ecumenical Council of Churches in Sierra Leone for the next three years. COLQUITT, Ga. — Misty Hayes is a busy volunteer who spends time serving at Colquitt United Methodist Church's food bank, helping with the church’s children and youth ministries, and participating in Colquitt's Swamp Gravy folk-life play. Nothing stopped Hayes, who uses a wheelchair, but the church’s front door. Kara Witherow reports on how the Colquitt church became more accessible.
