COMMENTARIES

United Methodist News Service plans to include various commentaries about proposals for the future of the church in the Daily Digest over the coming months. The commentaries will reflect a variety of viewpoints and are the opinions of the writers, not the UMNS staff. Today’s commentaries offer different perspectives on unity.

LENEXA, Kansas — The Rev. David Livingston, senior pastor of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, writes in response, saying Lambrecht is using a false premise. “We need each other to remind us that we are united more by God's love than by our rightness of doctrine AND to remind us that doctrine does matter,” Livingston writes.
