Helping our neighbors in Colorado
BILLINGS, Mont. (UMNS) - The Yellowstone Annual (regional) Conference is asking for prayers and money for their neighbors in Colorado. "We're in the emergency phase right now and then we will be moving into the response phase in the next few weeks," said the Rev. Nancy Boswell, disaster relief coordinator for the Peaks and Plains District, Rocky Mountain Annual (regional) Conference. "That's when we'll gather people into work teams to clean up and then get people back on their feet."

Sept. 18 call-in to Congress on poverty-focused foreign aid
WASHINGTON (UMNS) - Church World Service is calling on church members to participate in a national call-in day Wednesday, Sept. 18, at 1-800-826-3688 to urge members of Congress to support hunger and poverty-focused foreign aid. That aid represents only one percent of the entire federal budget but the U.S. House of Representatives "wants to cut 25 cents from every dollar the government spends to help to our neediest neighbors," the agency says.
