United Methodists react to Chauvin verdict
MINNEAPOLIS (UM News) — United Methodists across the connection joined the national response to the guilty verdict handed down April 20 in the trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd. While expressing the sense that the verdict was just, church leaders urged United Methodists to keep working toward dismantling widespread racism and systemic injustice against people of color. Church’s history receives state recognition
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Trinity United Methodist Church has a rich history of love, service and faithfulness dating back nearly 200 years. The church on April 21 dedicated an official state marker, honoring that history as Tallahassee’s first religious organization. Joe Henderson has the story of a church that started with 10 settlers — six white and four Black.
