Ohio college breaks with denomination
BEREA, Ohio — Baldwin Wallace University’s trustee board has voted unanimously to end the school’s formal affiliation with The United Methodist Church. The April 26 decision came in response to General Conference’s strengthening of bans against same-sex unions and ordination of LGBTQ persons as clergy. Sam Hodges has the story.

Pastor preaches creation care

SOLOMONS, Md. (UMC.org) — Before she was a pastor, the Reverend Dottie Yunger was a marine biologist. She lives her faith by educating others about the living miracles of God’s creation and, through the United Methodist Board of Global Ministries’ EarthKeepers program, preaches the church’s commitment to care for the environment as spelled out in the Social Principles.

Recently, about 100 Florida United Methodists learned more about Congregational Care Ministries, a program aimed to empower lay people to work alongside their pastors in bringing needed comfort.
