Laity leadership revitalizes young adult ministry
WHEELING, Ill. (UM News) — Instead of relying on a pastor to oversee its young adult ministry, First Korean United Methodist Church entrusted it to a devoted and committed volunteer layperson with a calling and vision. The once-struggling program now has 50 to 60 young adults worshipping together every Sunday. The Rev. Thomas E. Kim has the story.

DALLAS — St. Paul United Methodist Church’s Body and Soul Ministry has been honored with the North Texas Conference’s Bishop William Oden Award, which recognizes interreligious cooperation and dialogue. Body and Soul has provided fellowship, food and toiletries to needy people for 25 years. Volunteers come from a range of religious traditions. Monica Frazier reports.

Support for nursing moms in Sierra Leone
ATLANTA — A breastfeeding support system at Jaiama United Methodist Health Center is helping patients such as Seray Mara in Sierra Leone. After giving birth at the clinic, Mara encountered one of the center’s employees on the street and told her that she was having trouble nursing. The worker, Vandi Koroma, recognized the issue, met with the family and pointed them toward the correct treatment. Christie R. House has the story.
