Mobile clinic saves lives in rural Kenya
GILGIL, Kenya (UMNS) — For years, Angela Miloti depended on traditional herbalists for her children’s health care. But the mother of eight lost four children before their 10th birthdays. Her children were not immunized because the nearest clinic was a four-hour walk away. Now, thanks to a new mobile clinic — a cooperative venture between The United Methodist Church and Rotary Club — Miloti’s last baby was immunized. Faith Wanjiru has the story.

Christmas memories of Apollo 8
WASHINGTON (RNS) — Astronaut James Lovell had an epiphany 50 years ago as one of the first humans to orbit the moon. “I remembered a saying I’d often heard: ‘I hope to go to heaven when I die.’ I suddenly realized that I went to heaven when I was born,” said Lovell. He spoke at Washington National Cathedral during a Dec. 11 service recalling the historic Christmas week Apollo 8 mission. Jack Jenkins reports.

Chevron challenged on emissions reduction
NEW YORK — Chevron needs to keep its promise to reduce methane emissions, says United Methodist Women CEO Harriett Jane Olson. The oil company promised representatives of United Methodist Women in May that it would do so, but so far has not opposed the EPA’s proposed rollback of methane rules.

EVANSTON, Ill. — Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary’s Styberg Library has digitized and put online a collection of 17 letters written by John Wesley and two by Charles Wesley. One is from John Wesley to Ezekiel Cooper, an important leader in American Methodism, urging him to push for unity within Methodism.
