Children's home in Liberia gets bus, mattresses
DUAHZON, Liberia (UMNS) — Field trips for young ones living at the Bishop Judith Craig Children’s Village will be much easier thanks to the gift of a 16-seat bus. The bus, 64 mattresses and various other items, worth more than $20,000 total, were given to the village by the Detroit Conference of The United Methodist Church, and by Maple Grove United Methodist Church in Columbus, Ohio. BMCR promotes fundraising on Feb. 4
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Black Methodists for Church Renewal, an organization that advocates for the unique needs of African-American members in The United Methodist Church, is promoting BMCR Sunday on Feb. 4 as a way to raise funds on the local level. To achieve fiscal self-sustainability, BMCR raised more than $60,000 in 2017 through various gifts from individuals, local churches and annual conferences.

Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary
New doctor of ministry track at Garrett
EVANSTON, Ill. — Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, a United Methodist school, is launching a new doctor of ministry track for bilingual pastors working in predominately Spanish-speaking ministry settings. The first students will begin courses in June and will get 50 percent tuition scholarships, thanks to a Lilly Endowment grant.

Symposium addresses religion, science
ATLANTA — The future of life on earth and beyond will be the focus of the fourth annual symposium hosted by the Leadership and Multifaith Program, a collaborative partnership between United Methodist Candler School of Theology at Emory University and Georgia Tech’s Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts. The symposium is Feb. 17.
