Pastor loses credentials after not reporting abuse
LONGMONT, Colo. (UMNS) — In a church trial, the Rev. Filimone Havili Mone of Salt Lake City was found guilty of disobeying the order and discipline of the church for failing to report suspected sexual abuse to authorities in a timely manner. Havili lost his United Methodist clergy credentials for the violation of both church and civil law, said a statement by the Rocky Mountain Conference.

Methodists pray for missionary kidnapped in Nigeria
NEW YORK (UMNS) — Both the United Methodist Board of Global Ministries and the World Methodist Council are praying for the safe return of the Rev. Phyllis Sortor, a missionary with the Free Methodist Church, who was kidnapped in Nigeria and is reportedly being held for ransom.
