Workers need COVID-19 protection
TOPEKA, Kan. — The Great Plains Conference and the Gateway District are among 25 organizations calling for greater coronavirus protection for workers in Nebraska meat and poultry plants. A letter from the groups calls on the Nebraska Legislature to enforce protections including distance between workers, paid sick leave and benefits, as well as effective screening and quarantine practices. Bell ringing to honor John Lewis
WASHINGTON — Houses of worship around the country will ring their bells for 80 seconds on July 30 at 11 a.m. Eastern time — during funeral services for Congressman John Lewis. The bell ringing honors the 80 years of the civil rights leader's life. Congregations without church bells can honor Lewis in other ways, including moments of silence and changing church signs.
