'Service of Lament' challenges church on racism
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (UM News) — As part of The United Methodist Church's anti-racism initiative, church leaders are sharing online an unflinching "Service of Lament, Repentance, Communion and Commitment." The hour-long video weaves in Scripture, prayer, spirituals, photos of racial violence victims — and anguished testimony by United Methodists of color. Sam Hodges reports.

AU, Yale students aim to fill health care gaps
MUTARE, Zimbabwe (UM News) — An Africa University student and a Yale student have co-founded a company that they hope can fill health care gaps in African communities. Dubbed the "Ubuntu Clinic," their idea involves the use of micro-franchising to roll out solar-powered mini-clinics where health care infrastructure is nonexistent, deteriorating or woefully inadequate. Graduates get recognition despite COVID-19

WESTLAKE, Ohio — Westlake United Methodist Church members decided to ensure that graduating high school seniors received recognition, even if the coronavirus pandemic limited the options. All 11 seniors who belong to the church got a small box of cards, gift cards and other tokens of affection. There also was a parade of cars past their homes. Brett Hetherington reports.
