BILLINGS, Mont. — Two out lesbians were part of the “Service of Honoring and Ordering Ministry" at the Mountain Sky Conference. The Rev. Ashley Hawkins became a licensed local pastor and the Rev. Amber Mitts was part of a class of 10 commissioned by Bishop Karen Oliveto. The Rev. Jasper Peters was the first African-American clergyman to be elected first clergy delegate to the 2020 General Conference for the legacy Rocky Mountain Conference. Charmaine Robledo reports.

Bishops ask top court to rule on 5 questions
WASHINGTON — The Council of Bishops has asked the Judicial Council, the denomination’s top court, to rule on five questions related to “the constitutionality, meaning, application and effect” of some portions of the Traditional Plan previously ruled constitutional. The bishops are also asking the Judicial Council to specify exactly when the new disaffiliation legislation takes effect.
