Foundation, UMCOR team up for Ukraine
ZULCH, Texas — Lena Denman, a United Methodist, is founder and president of a Texas-based foundation that sends medical supplies to hospitals in Ukraine. Her pastor, the Rev. Jim Jackson, helped make a connection with the United Methodist Committee on Relief, which led to six-figure grants for the foundation’s efforts. Lindsay Peyton reports.

Garrett inks deal with Hispanic group
EVANSTON, Ill. — La Asociació La Educació Teológica Hispana, which certifies the quality of programs provided by Hispanic Bible institutes and ministerial development programs, has signed a partnership agreement with United Methodist-associated Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. The deal is intended to expand theological education opportunities in Hispanic-Latinx communities.

Study grant applications being accepted
NEW YORK — July 12 is the deadlie for women to apply for a travel and study grant from United Women in Faith. The Theressa Hoover Community Service and Global Citizenship Award offers funds to travel to another country to explore and study. Priority will be given to projects addressing climate justice and the criminalization of communities of color.

United Methodist Communications will celebrate Social Media Day on June 30, highlighting the many resources the agency provides to help churches maximize their social media potential. The agency will host a live learning session on Facebook Groups at noon U.S. Central time June 30 at Facebook.com/UMCom. It will cover key social media concepts and will include Q&A time.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — United Methodist Insurance Program announced that it has chosen Sovereign Insurance Group as its exclusive brokerage firm. United Methodist Insurance plans to have webinars to introduce Sovereign to United Methodist ministries. Webinars are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. U.S. Central time June 29 and 9:30 a.m. June 30.
