MARANGE, Zimbabwe (UMNS) — The United Methodist Church in Zimbabwe is helping link rural communities with business opportunities in an effort to “evangelize through economic empowerment.” The church hosted a business expo and local market to provide new possibilities for people living in poverty. NASHVILLE, Tenn. (UMC.org) — In his day, George Whitefield may have been the most well-known preacher in the American colonies. A charter member of the Holy Club with John and Charles Wesley, the trained actor and orator drew great crowds everywhere he preached. Though he and John Wesley later had a falling out over theological differences, Whitefield asked Wesley to preach at his funeral.
