Bishops’ action leads to questions

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (UMNS) — Some bishops expect three plans will be submitted as legislation to the special General Conference. Other bishops emphasize only the One Church Plan has their recommendation. General Conference delegates report confusion. Sam Hodges and Heather Hahn have the story.

Sweat equity earns bikes for kids

MACON, Ga. — A member of Vineville United Methodist Church is helping boys and girls earn bikes by putting 10 hours of sweat equity into the Learn and Earn bicycle program. The youth training and mentoring program is a partnership between Nathan Watson and the after-school program Campus Clubs. Kara Witherow has the story.

WCC prepares for Pope Francis visit

GENEVA — The leadership of the World Council of Churches met May 11 to prepare for a visit from Pope Francis on June 12. The pope’s visit will be a centerpiece of the ecumenical commemoration of the WCC’s 70th anniversary.

Wesley Theological Seminary
Seminary honors mentor to pastors

WASHINGTON — United Methodist Wesley Theological Seminary honored the Rev. Karen Frances Bunnell with its Society of John Wesley Award. The senior pastor of Elkton United Methodist Church in Elkton, Maryland, she is also the first woman to chair the Peninsula-Delaware Conference Board of Ordained Ministry. In that role, she has mentored many candidates for ministry.
