DES MOINES, Iowa (UMNS) — The Commission on General Conference, which plans the legislative assembly, approved registration fees for visitors to help pay for the special session in 2019. A big concern of the meeting was helping delegates do their work. Heather Hahn reports.

Two UMW leaders arrested in nonviolent action
WASHINGTON — Two leaders from United Methodist Women were arrested after a rally in front of the U.S. Capitol that was part of an effort to launch a new Poor People’s Campaign. Carol Barton, executive for Community Action, and Emily Jones, executive for Racial Justice, were arrested as part of a planned, nonviolent action of blocking a street. Erik Alsgaard has the story.

EVANSTON, Ill. — For the first time, the United Methodist Judicial Council will livestream an oral hearing. The oral hearing to consider a request from the bishops for a declaratory decision of law about what legislation can come before next year’s special session of General Conference will be livestreamed by United Methodist Communications.
