Church response to migration gets boost

OSLO, Norway (UMNS) — The Connectional Table allotted $100,000 to boost ministries that relieve the suffering caused by forced migration and set a date for churches to take up an offering to support those ministries. Heather Hahn reports.

University gets grant to move College of Health Sciences

GANTA, Liberia (UMNS) — A grant from the United Methodist Board of Global Ministries will allow the College of Health Sciences of the United Methodist University to be moved from Ganta United Methodist Hospital to a nearby location in Nimba County. Julu Swen has the story.

DELANO, Minn. — Bob Lucas, a member of Delano United Methodist Church, is using his engineering and business skills to provide a water purification system for Mercy Ships, a nonprofit that sends ships to Africa to provide life-saving operations. Karla Hovde reports for the Minnesota Conference.

MINNEAPOLIS (UMC.org) — Fresh food isn’t always available at food pantries, but it will be at Joyce Uptown Foodshelf here, thanks to 11-year-old Silja Bijnagte. Her determination to build raised garden beds brought together volunteers from Lake Harriet United Methodist Church in a common goal of serving their neighbors — one carrot at a time.
