Jane Marshall, revered composer, dies at 94

DALLAS (UM News) — As a young homemaker and Methodist choir member in the early 1950s, Jane Marshall composed the anthem “My Eternal King,” which would become a staple for church choirs across denominations. She went on to a long, acclaimed career as a composer and educator. Marshall died May 29 at age 94. Sam Hodges reports.

Iowa, West Ohio conferences
Midwest tornadoes impact Iowa, Ohio

DES MOINES, Iowa — There were forecasts of flooding around Iowa after six tornadoes damaged property. Meanwhile, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine declared a state of emergency in three counties after 10 tornadoes and violent storms caused significant damage there. Each state has had one storm-related death. The Rev. Arthur McClanahan reports from Iowa and Kay Panovec has the story in Ohio.

Native American culture celebrated at pilgrimage

ROCK HILL, S.C. — A celebration of Native American culture, sponsored by the South Carolina Conference, was an effort to raise awareness of the history and contributions of Native Americans in South Carolina, including Native American United Methodists. Jessica Brodie reports.
