JESSUP, Md. — After attending the graveside service of a church member, a young man approached the Rev. Gay Carden and asked to be baptized. The request eventually led to Asbury United Methodist Church holding river baptisms for nine people and reaffirming the baptism of four others. The conference has the story.

NORTH CANTON, Ohio — A group of 34 clergy and laity made a nine-day pilgrimage to Turkey and Greece, led by Bishop Tracy S. Malone. Participants walked where Paul ministered in Laodicea, Hierapolis, Ephesus, Corinth and Athens. They also visited cities of five of the seven churches that the disciple John wrote about in the Book of Revelation.

CEDAR MILL, Ore. — Local leaders, neighbors and partners broke ground on the first low-income housing development for LGBTQ seniors in the Portland area. Christ United Methodist Church in Cedar Mill donated the land and is a partner in the project. Ray Pitz reports.

Dr. Lydia Muñoz writes that it’s important that their Hispanic/Latino congregants not be shut out of the decision-making. Muñoz, executive director of the National Plan for Hispanic/Latino Ministries, has advice for churches with ties to Hispanic/Latino ministries. The organization has a webinar scheduled for Oct. 17 to field questions from Hispanic/Latino church members about disaffiliation scenarios.
