Bishop Ough prays for unified church
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (UMNS) — Bishop Bruce Ough of the Dakotas-Minnesota Episcopal Area was president of the Council of Bishops during the 2016 General Conference that authorized the Commission on a Way Forward. He shared his thoughts on the process and prayers for the church with UM News as part of “Seeing a Way Forward,” a video series featuring different perspectives of church leaders on the work of the Commission on a Way Forward.

Building momentum for peace in Korea
ATLANTA (UMNS) — The global Methodist family will be represented at the 2018 Roundtable for Peace on the Korean Peninsula, hosted by the United Methodist Board of Global Ministries. The Nov. 9-11 faith-based event will include input from a former U.S. president and a United Methodist who served as U.S. ambassador to Korea. Registration for the opening session at The Carter Center and a Nov. 10 worship service at Grace United Methodist Church is open to the public. Linda Bloom has the story.

Discipleship Ministries restructures
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (UMNS) — Discipleship Ministries announced an organizational redesign. Specifically, the agency will combine New Church Starts (Path 1), Leadership Ministries and Young People’s Ministries units into a new area. Heather Hahn reports.

Applications open for Global Mission Fellows

ATLANTA — The United Methodist Board of Global Ministries is taking applications from young Christian adults who are interested in becoming Global Mission Fellows. Applicants must be ages 20 to 30 and commit to two years of service. Global Mission Fellows work to address the roots of injustice. Early-access deadline is Dec. 3.

Spanish translation of Way Forward report released
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (UMNS) — A Spanish translation of the Commission on a Way Forward report is now available. The Rev. Francisco Cañas said the translation was a joint effort of the Council of Bishops, MARCHA (Methodists Associated Representing the Cause of Hispanic/Latino Americans) and the National Plan for Hispanic/Latino Ministries. The report was already available in the four official languages of General Conference — English, French, Portuguese and Swahili.
