Clergy network stands strong in Charlottesville

Duke Divinity professor to meet Pope Francis

DURHAM, N.C. — The Rev. Edgardo Colón-Emeric, a United Methodist elder and assistant professor of Christian theology at Duke Divinity School, is scheduled to have an audience with Pope Francis on Oct. 19, as part of a delegation from the Methodist-Catholic Dialogue. Colón-Emeric is providing the first Spanish translation of a document from the dialogue.

WASHINGTON (UMC.org) — Across from the U.S. Supreme Court, which begins a new session Oct. 2, stands the United Methodist Building, a Heritage Landmark. The only non-governmental building on Capitol Hill, it houses the offices of the United Methodist Board of Church and Society.

Perkins to honor Bishop McKee

DALLAS — Bishop Michael McKee, who leads the North Texas Conference, is the 2017 Distinguished Alumnus of Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University. He will be honored during the annual awards banquet at 5 p.m. CST Nov. 13.

Uniting Methodists work toward 'middle'

LEAWOOD, Kan. — About 1,000 people attended last week the meeting of Uniting Methodists, which sees its mission as bolstering the denomination’s center on human sexuality issues.
