Lilly grants will benefit United Methodist clergy
JACKSON, Miss. (UMNS) — Mentoring, networking and financing for sabbaticals will be more accessible to United Methodist ministers because of nearly $6 million in grant money from the Lilly Endowment Inc. At Millsaps College, a $1 million grant will be used to support female clergy. Jim Patterson reports.

Conferences collaborate to strengthen clergy skills
ATLANTA — The North Georgia, Florida, Tennessee and Memphis conferences are working together on a clergy leadership initiative called M-LAB, which stands for Movement — Learning Action Board. The conferences have held two gatherings so far, with participants getting tools to become better listeners, planners and implementers of ministry. Sybil Davidson reports.

Judicial Council oral hearings available online
ZURICH (UMNS) — A webcast of the Judicial Council oral hearings that took place Oct. 23 is now archived for viewing at any time. The hearings dealt with Commission on a Way Forward plans, a question from the Commission on General Conference and questions from the Council of Bishops. The denomination’s top court can release opinions any time after its meeting concludes Oct. 26.
