Hamilton to preach at National Prayer Service

WASHINGTON (UMNS) - The Rev. Adam Hamilton, pastor of the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, will deliver the sermon at the National Prayer Service this morning, Jan. 22, at the National Cathedral. President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are expected to attend the service. Hamilton is pastor of the largest church in the United Methodist denomination.

United Methodist takes National Cathedral post

WASHINGTON (UMNS) - The Rev. Gina Campbell, a United Methodist elder, is the first worship director at the National Cathedral who is not an Episcopal priest, and she believes that was intentional. "I think they knew this would be a departure from what people expect. And from a missional point of view, the cathedral is a house of prayer for all people," said Campbell.

Lifewatch sets service for Roe v. Wade 40th

WASHINGTON (UMNS) - Lifewatch, the Taskforce of United Methodists on Abortion and Sexuality, will mark the 40th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade decision by joining with the National Pro-Life Religious Council for its 2013 annual worship service. The service is at 8:30 a.m. Jan. 25 at the DAR Constitution Hall, 1776 D. Street NW.
