Twitter and guaranteed appointment

“The twitter community held the General Conference accountable.” – The Rev. Becca Clark

The last day of GC2012 is a good time to catch up on some stories from earlier in the week. This interview is from Wednesday, the day after guaranteed appointment came up on the floor of General Conference, and was passed as part of the consent calendar which was approved by the body. I spoke with the Rev. Becca Clark, who said that (Trinity UMC, Monteplier, VT) she first saw the news on Twitter. She then consulted with her delegation (The New England Conference).

Clark alerted fellow delegate, The Rev. We Hyun Chang, who then made a motion to reconsider the petition regarding employment guarantees for elders (or guaranteed appointment). The General Conference eventually voted to end the long-standing practice, but Twitter shifted the direction of the morning. Here’s the interview.
