The United Methodist Church has taken steps toward uniting members, while awaiting recourse from the courts regarding properties and other legal matters.
Friends and colleagues say Bishop George W. Bashore was a stalwart supporter of younger clergy and a master vocalist who wove music into almost everything he did. He died Dec. 13 at age 90.
As The United Methodist Church deals with deep budget cuts, the denomination’s financial leaders supported the bishops’ request for no salary increase.
